Now you have seen it! I'm not going to lie, making the most of the space was definitely challenging, so here are 5 tips in making the most of your studio space that no one tells you!

1. Create "quarters" to your space
When looking for apartments, we started off looking at 1 bedrooms and quickly realized that the one bedrooms had less space then the studio apartments because of how the walls were situated. My next thought was that if we got a studio, how would we make it so it felt like separate spaces for the living room, kitchen and bedroom......Quarter off your space! Use furniture pieces as walls such as bookshelves for accent pieces, a couch to separate the living room from the kitchen, and in my case shoe shelves to separate my closet from the bedroom.

2. Think up and down!
Since space can be limited in a studio apartment and really any apartment in Manhattan, you must think up and down! Use high shelving and bed risers for extra storage. Use sectional organizers in the top and bottom parts of your closet to fit the extra stuff in!

3. Give yourself a "drop zone"
I honestly think this is key in any home, but when you have a small space, extra things you walk in the door with daily can clutter your space. We created a "drop zone" which is essentially a entryway table and a bench to drop keys, groceries, shoes, umbrellas etc. that you come in the door with.

4. No shoes!
Because you have a small space, it makes it even harder to clean! Make a no shoes policy in your home so that no one is allowed to walk in the door with their shoes on. This will allow for less cleaning!

Lastly....

5. Make your laundry area presentable!,
Because you have a small space and probably don't have a closet to store your laundry in, your going to want to make it look good! Get a laundry basket that has enough room in it to hold at least two weeks of laundry and also looks like a furniture piece. The second part to this is to make sure you find a laundromat within 2 blocks away from your place when you first move in. The reason for this is you aren't going to have enough space to hold much more laundry in your basket so you'll be doing your laundry at least twice a week.

Thanks so much for following along and please feel free to comment or DM me for more on my home tour!

XOXO,
Michelle
